DNA links N.O. man to Lafayette robbery
LAFAYETTE — The Police Department reported DNA evidence collected at the scene of a March 9 bank robbery has linked a 48-year-old New Orleans man to the crime.
A police news release said an arrest warrant for first-degree robbery was issued for Thomas L. Eugene, incarcerated in Escambia County, Fla., in connection with a March 17 bank robbery there.
Lafayette police reported a hold has been placed on Eugene in Escambia County.
The March 9 robbery occurred at 112 E. Kaliste Saloom Road.
Eugene allegedly presented a bank teller with a note demanding cash, police reported at the time.
The teller turned over the money and Eugene fled from the scene, according to the report.
