Lafourche deputies arrest two teens in burglaries
CUT OFF — Two teenagers implicated in a Galliano country club burglary were arrested after one of them was seen digging a hole in his backyard to bury stolen goods, deputies said Tuesday.
Michael Rios Jr., 17, 179-A E. 75th St., Larose, and David Collins, 19, 545 Chester Lee, Larose, were arrested Sunday on simple burglary and other criminal counts, according to a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office statement.
A computer monitor, bottles of liquor and a safe containing as much as $5,000 were reported stolen from Tideland Country Club early Saturday, deputies said.
Deputies sent to Rios’ house Sunday found liquor and a bank deposit bag from the club, as well as items tied to two burglaries in St. Charles Parish.
Deputies said they later tracked down Collins and connected him to the unrelated St. Charles Parish burglaries of a dance studio and a private residence.
Rios, who was being held in Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on Tuesday on a $10,000 bond, was booked with simple burglary and possession of stolen goods worth more than $500, deputies said.
Collins, also held but under a $50,000 bond, was booked with three counts of simple burglary and a single count of possession of stolen goods worth more than $500, deputies said.
