HAMMOND — Deputies arrested an Amite woman for allegedly stabbing a Hammond woman twice in the shoulder early Thursday morning, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond about 12:20 a.m. after the victim sought treatment, a news release said.

The victim told deputies that Victoria Gant, 21, 61659 La. 1046, Amite, allegedly went to the house of the victim’s boyfriend to fight, the statement said.

Dawn Panepinto, a sheriff’s spokeswoman, said the incident report did not include an address of the altercation, so she could not say where it took place.

The unnamed victim told deputies she did not want to fight Gant because she is six months pregnant, but Gant allegedly pulled out a knife, hit her in the head and stabbed her twice in the shoulder, the release said.

Deputies arrested Gant and booked her into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail for attempted first-degree murder.
