Mother’s call leads police to arrest son
PONCHATOULA — A man’s attempt to steal money from his mother’s purse led deputies to arrest him on outstanding warrants from Tangipahoa, St. Helena and East Baton Rouge parishes, the Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office reported.
The warrants included 85 counts of simple burglary in Baton Rouge, deputies said Tuesday.
The mother of Nathaniel Combs, 39, 41268 N. 11th St., Ponchatoula, ended up declining to pursue a charge regarding the attempted theft but called deputies around 6:30 p.m. Monday to prevent additional disturbances, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The responding deputy took down Combs’ information and realized he had given false information and was wanted by the East Baton Rouge, St. Helena and Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s offices.
Combs later was arrested and booked with resisting an officer by false information, six outstanding failure to appear warrants and four active warrants from other jurisdictions.
Combs had two failure to appear warrants from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office on theft charges, deputies said.
The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office wanted Combs on single counts of possession of stolen property and theft. Combs was wanted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on one count of theft of goods, one count of theft and 85 counts of simple burglary, 85 counts of criminal damage to property and 50 counts of theft, deputies said.
