Public asked to help find two suspects in burglaries
AMITE — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards asked for the public’s help Thursday in locating two men identified as suspects in separate burglaries.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that in one instance, a resident returned to his home on Smart Road in Roseland early Thursday to find an intruder inside.
The resident and intruder fought before the attacker fled, deputies said.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for the arrest of DeQuincy Jackson, 28, 63152 Bennett Road in Amite, on criminal counts of aggravated burglary and simple battery, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
In the other case, investigators said they were seeking Richard Sloat, 54, 1096 Highway 51 in Osyka, Miss.
Sloat is a suspect in a simple burglary which occurred May 4 at 12631 Center St. in the village of Tangipahoa.
Deputies said Sloat is wanted on counts of simple burglary and aggravated assault.
Sheriff Edwards asked that anyone with information that could lead to the arrests of Jackson and Sloat to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 524-5245 or the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 748-3334.
