Police seek I-55 hit-and-run driver

KENTWOOD — Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa Parish is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident on Interstate 55 last month, Louisiana State Police reported today.

George Downing Jr., 52, Kentwood, was walking north along I-55 northbound to the north of Kentwood when he was hit by an unknown vehicle shortly before 11:50 p.m. March 25, troopers have said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police Troop L and State Police detectives are still investigating the hit-and-run case.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 554-JAIL. Callers will remain anonymous.
