HAMMOND — Deputies booked a 21-year-old man with aggravated rape in connection with sexual assaults dating back several years, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.
Douglas Davis, 53432 S. Bennett Road, Independence, surrendered Wednesday in connection with allegations that he raped a juvenile in 2003 when he was 15, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto.
Under state law, Davis could be tried as an adult on an aggravated rape charge if the District Attorney’s Office chooses, Panepinto said.
Davis denied the allegations, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
