Albany man, 27, booked in choking, theft case
TICKFAW — Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested an Albany man Sunday on attempted murder and other charges after he choked a man, causing the victim to pass out, authorities said Monday.
Christopher Marshall, 27, 30875 Cafe Line Road, Albany, demanded the victim and his cousin empty their pockets as they drove Marshall home from a Tickfaw wedding reception Saturday, deputies said in a statement. Marshall had already been in a fight with the groom’s father, deputies said.
The victim, who told Marshall he would not give him anything, later told deputies he awoke to find his cousin screaming at Marshall, deputies said.
After waiting for the right moment, the cousins ran away from the vehicle. Deputies said they later found marks around the victim’s face and throat.
Deputies found Marshall at the Best Western University Inn in Hammond where Marshall punched a deputy and resisted arrest, deputies said.
Deputies said they searched Marshall and in his pants pockets found a large of amount of cash and an item one of the two cousins reported stolen.
He was booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Detention Center on charges of second-degree robbery, attempted second-degree murder, three counts of battery on a police officer and three counts of resisting arrest, deputies said.
