Police arrest three suspects in separate marijuana cases
Law enforcement authorities reported Friday they arrested two backyard marijuana growers as a result of unrelated investigations in Denham Springs and Slidell.
State Police South District Narcotics troopers and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a man in Denham Springs growing marijuana in his backyard on Lotts Lane, said a statement issued by State Police Troop A.
Troopers confirmed the presence of the plants by flying over the property Wednesday, and deputies and troopers then entered the residence and found marijuana plants growing in 15 pots. Troopers returned later in the day to arrest the homeowner, Randal Singleton, 46, 34800 Lotts Lane, Denham Springs, and a roommate, John Long, 42, same address, police said.
Singleton was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on counts of cultivating marijuana and simple possession, and Long was booked with simple possession, jail records said.
In an unrelated incident, Slidell Police arrested on Thursday the son of a 10th Street homeowner accused of growing marijuana, according to a written statement from the Slidell Police Department.
Police gained consent to search the home and found seven pots of marijuana plants as well as packaging material, police said. Jason A. Clark, 20, 2023 10th St., Slidell, was booked into the Slidell City Jail with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police said.
