SWAT team places first in tactical competition
Members of the Baton Rouge special weapons and tactical team placed first in the annual Louisiana Tactical Police Officers Association Conference and Competition.
Six members of the team competed in the one-day event Tuesday, winning first place in the handgun shoot, rifle shoot, shotgun shoot and obstacle course, a Police Department news release says.
During the obstacle course, team members had to clear a house and retrieve an envelope containing a suspect’s description, the release says. From there, they had to shoot metal targets set up at various distances.
Serving on the six-member team were Sgt. Ricky Arnett and corporals Wayne Martin, Joel Pattison, Chris Polito, Bryan Taylor and Michael Walker.
