Authorities arrested at least three people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish between 3 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday, booking records show.
PORT ALLEN — A Port Allen man died early Saturday in a single-car crash on La. 986 east of La. 415 near Lobdell, State Police Troop A reported. PRAIRIEVILLE — A man died in an accidental fire that occurred sometime before 2 a.m. Saturday in his fifth-wheel camper, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Bruce Chaisson, 33, 6924 Braswell Lane, Ethel, died at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after the 2001 Dodge Caravan he was riding in slammed into the back of a 2004 Honda Civic, said Sgt. Don Kelly, a Baton Rouge police spokesman. A man in Baton Rouge on an expired student visa was arrested Friday in Baton Rouge and accused of illegally possessing thousands of doses of controlled dangerous substances. THIBODAUX — Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish sheriff’s drug task force agents said they intercepted two men planning to conduct a cocaine deal at a McDonald’s restaurant in Larose on Thursday and arrested them on drug distribution charges. Police arrested an 18-year-old man Thursday in the June 3 killing of 21-year-old Louis Shelton Deggs Jr. Deggs was shot during a fight in the 2800 block of Jackson Street, an affidavit of probable cause says. LAFAYETTE — A 70-year-old Lafayette man is in critical condition at a local hospital following a Friday morning crash at the intersection of Mudd Avenue andNortheast Evangeline Thruway. Bruce Chaisson,33, of Ethel, was killed in a traffic crash around 10:55 p.m. Thursday night. The 11th Annual Gulf Coast Police Motorcycle Skills Championship is being held at Cabela’s Outdoor World in Gonzales with events on Friday (today) and Saturday, Nov. 6-7. This event brings motorcycle patrol officers from around the country together to train with one another and compete for the title of top rider at this charity event. Two St. Gabriel police officers who investigated a fatal car crash in August took $2,000 from the body of the man killed in the wreck, authorities said. Police are looking for a man accused of kidnapping a 33-year-old woman early Thursday and raping her in the parking lot of a Hatcher Avenue apartment complex. LAFAYETTE — The Police Department reported DNA evidence collected at the scene of a March 9 bank robbery has linked a 48-year-old New Orleans man to the crime. ST. FRANCISVILLE — State highway officials took the 35-car ferry operating between St. Francisville and New Roads out of service Thursday morning after debris in the Mississippi River damaged the vessel’s propeller. BAKER — Police arrested a Baker man accused of breaking into a church Wednesday night and a residence last month, a Baker Police Department spokesman said. |
