GONZALES — State troopers and city police arrested a Gonzales man Thursday in a state investigation of child pornography activities, Louisiana State Police reported Friday. A man wanted in the rape of another man earlier this week surrendered to authorities late Thursday, a police spokesman said. WALKER — A car collided with an 18-wheeler, causing a fire and explosion that shut down Interstate 12 Friday morning, police reported. OPELOUSAS — A Lafayette Parish sheriff’s deputy was cited for allegedly slashing a vehicle’s tire in the parking lot of Walmart. A man wanted in the fatal shooting of Quincy Demond Gaines, 26, surrendered to authorities on Thursday, a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman said. Brandon Charles Warner, 23, 400 Evergreen St., is accused of shooting Gaines, 158 S. 11th St., at 9:52 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Don Kelly said. A U.S. District Court grand jury Thursday indicted the security guard who claimed she was attacked while working at LSU but later admitted she had stabbed herself. Dale Marine Noel, 47, 2912 Caroljack Drive, was indicted on one count of making a false statement to a federal investigator. If convicted, Henry Ted Haugabrook walked down South Street early Saturday morning to take a look at the charred remains of the 70-year-old blue, wood-frame house where Leroy McKneely lived. LAFAYETTE — Two people were robbed at gunpoint early Thursday on Jefferson Street, according to a Police Department news release. A Baton Rouge attorney who years ago made an unsuccessful run for secretary of state was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping a man earlier this week at his home. The driver of a second car believed to have struck one or both of the pedestrians in a fatal crash last week on North Street has come forward, police said. PLAQUEMINE — Seven people involved in a three-vehicle wreck Wednesday were taken to a Baton Rouge hospital for treatment of injuries, the Police Department reported. RACELAND — The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office asked the public Wednesday to help in its investigation of a Tuesday night armed robbery in which one of the robbers was armed with a semi-automatic AK-47 assault rifle. |
