SATSUMA — After overcoming a severe financial situation in which it had to seek help from fire departments and municipalities in 2006, the Livingston Parish 911 Center faces another monetary crunch. The parish’s fire chiefs like the job the 911 Center is doing, but this time the 11 fire departments cannot afford to help because they are facing high fuel costs, said Brian Drury, president of the Livingston Parish Fire Chiefs Association.


Authorities arrested at least nine people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, booking records show.


Two people were killed early Sunday in a head-on collision in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana State Police said.


Baker police deployed their Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team Sunday morning to an apartment on Seville Avenue where a man had barricaded himself inside with a gun.

BOSSIER CITY — A man wanted in connection with a Bossier City shooting that left three dead has been arrested in Idaho, authorities said.


Since mid-February, 2,605 citations have been issued to motorists caught on camera running red lights at five major East Baton Rouge intersections. “We have one video that shows three cars in a row running one red light at Essen and I-10,” city-parish Chief Traffic Engineer Ingolf Partenheimer said.

ZACHARY — Police seized five marijuana plants worth an estimated $5,000 during a raid at a McHost Road residence Friday night.


Police arrested a second man Friday in connection with an April home invasion and kidnapping. Carl Johnson, 18, is one of five men who broke into the home of Ulysses Morgan, 11766 Glenda Drive, on the morning of April 10, according to an arrest warrant.


ST. AMANT — A stretch of Black Bayou Road was closed Friday because of a propane leak, said the director of the Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.


Law enforcement authorities reported Friday they arrested two backyard marijuana growers as a result of unrelated investigations in Denham Springs and Slidell.
