LSU security guard injured herself
The security guard who was stabbed Saturday at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center has now told investigators she injured herself, an LSU Police spokesman said.
Dale M. Noel, 47, of 2912 Caroljack Drive, initially claimed that a man, possibly of Middle Eastern descent, attacked her at about 1 p.m. while trying to get into the law center, Sgt. Blake Tabor said.
Noel’s story changed Monday after detectives confronted her with evidence that did not corroborate her account, Tabor said.
“The victim stated that she was not confronted by a male suspect while working the LSU Law School, and that the wounds were self inflicted,” Tabor said.
Detectives have not determined why Noel stabbed herself once in the shoulder and once in the abdomen, Tabor said, adding that her wounds were minor and that she was released from the hospital the same day she was admitted.
LSU police have obtained an arrest warrant for Noel and are attempting to execute it, Tabor said. Once she has been arrested, Noel will be booked into Parish Prison on one count each of criminal mischief and terrorizing.
