Two St. Gabriel police officers were arrested today for allegedly taking $2,000 from a man killed in an August car accident, authorities with Louisiana State Police said.

Officer Keith Snowten, 23, of St. Gabriel, took the money on Aug. 8 after responding to a single vehicle crash in St. Gabriel, Trooper Russell Graham III said.

Snowten gave his colleague, Rodrick Wesley, 32, of Bayou Goula, half of the money, Graham said. Wesley also responded to the fatal traffic crash.

Troopers arrested the police officers this morning at the State Police headquarters on Independence Boulevard, Graham said.

The men will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and then transferred to Iberville Parish where the crimes occurred.
