Standoff at house ends with 1 arrest
LACOMBE — A man kept law enforcement officers at bay for more than five hours Thursday after fleeing from a state trooper who had pulled him over for a traffic violation on La. 434 and U.S. 190.
Donnie Brabham, 57, of Lacombe, allegedly sped off, leaving behind the trooper who was talking to him about the alleged violation, according to a written statement from State Police Troop L.
The trooper chased Brabham until he pulled up at his residence on North Pontchartrain Drive and went inside, where he remained for five hours, troopers said.
After State Police negotiators talked to Brabham at length, troopers and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Special Weapons and Tactics team entered the residence and captured Brabham without incident, troopers said.
Brabham was booked with resisting arrest, aggravated flight from an officer and wearing no seat belt, troopers said. He was placed in custody of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office for evaluation.
