Baton Rouge lawyer Kevin Lovell James is campaigning for the Family Court judgeship in Division B. That post is about to be vacated by Judge Luke LaVergne, who faces the mandatory retirement age of 70.

James said she has focused her campaign on wisdom, experience, knowledge and professionalism.

James is the only Baton Rouge native in the race, as well as the only LSU alumna.

She is a 1982 graduate of Redemptorist High School. She earned a B.A. in political science from LSU and a master’s in mass communications from Southern University.

James received her law degree from Southern University Law Center.

She is a licensed minister and evangelist. She founded S.T.A.N.D. Evangelistic Ministries and is a member of the Word of Life Christian Center in Darrow.

James has practiced law for nearly 13 years in federal, state and local courts. That practice is in family, criminal and personal injury law.

She contends her broad experience would help her arrive at sensible judicial rulings that would benefit families for generations.

The election is Oct. 4.

James said voters can review her credentials and position on pertinent issues at her Web site: http://www.voteforkevinjames.com.
