After serving for 28 years as mayor of Addis, Carroll P. Bourgeois is asking voters to re-elect him to an eighth term of office for “Just quietly taking care of business.”

“Over the years, I, along with the Town Council, have guided the town’s growth from two part-time office clerks to the fully functioning municipality that we enjoy today,” Bourgeois said.

Bourgeois, a 42-year resident of Addis, said he has chosen to live in Addis because of the “warm and open-armed welcome” he and his wife, Carolyn,  received when they arrived.

“Community involvement has always been a part of the Addis people and me,” Bourgeois said.

Bourgeois, 64, a Democrat,  faces Republican Robert “Bobby” Hebert in the Oct. 4 Addis mayoral election.

In recent years, Addis has modernized its infrastructure which is now capable of serving 9,500 residents — more than double Addis’ current population of 4,200 people.

When seven new subdivisions are completed, Bourgeois said,  the town’s population would be well over 8,000 residents.
Along with that growth and development will come the businesses that serve that growth, which translates into new jobs for the people of Addis, Bourgeois said.

“As all of this growth comes to our town, we have welcomed and accepted it without banner-waving or horn blowing,” Bourgeois said. “Just quietly taking care of business.”

The next four years will be crucial to the development of Addis, Bourgeois said. It is important that the mayor is an individual who is dedicated to the growth and who will manage it while maintaining the town’s “rural, small-town atmosphere, he said.

“We still have much work to do,” Bourgeois said. I humbly solicit your vote and support. Thank you for your consideration.”
