Running for Office: Morgan City mayor, Matte
MORGAN CITY — Morgan City Mayor Tim Matte has announced his plans to seek re-election.
“Over the past three years many new and existing businesses have shown their faith in our city and our people by making significant investments in this community,” Matte said in a prepared statement.
“I would like to continue this progress and see our city take full advantage of the opportunities that are being provided to us. That is why I humbly ask for your vote and consideration, so that I may serve one more term as your mayor.”
Matte said he has worked to provide the service and infrastructure to support growth and sees much potential in the city.
“Just on the horizon are so many additional improvements and investments in our city,” Matte said. “It is my desire to see these potential projects through to their ultimate conclusion.”
Matte said he values open government and citizen input and has strived to keep the cost of city services low to serve all citizens.
He also said he will work to maintain good relationships with federal, state and parish governments to take advantage of grant funding opportunities for the city.
Matte, a Democrat, is running for office against Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi, no party.
The primary election will be held on Oct. 4.
