State education leaders plan to hold a public hearing on Nov. 5 to discuss Louisiana’s bid for up to $250 million in a federal contest.
The competition is called “Race to the Top.” Federal officials are offering $4.4 billion to states that are creating conditions for education innovation and reform.
The hearing will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Claiborne Building, 1201 N. Third St., Thomas Jefferson Room, according to a statement from the state Department of Education. State Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek will provide an overview of the competition at 2 p.m.
