Information session set on travel course

LAFAYETTE — An informational session about the University of Louisiana at Lafayette history departments study/travel program on the American West will be held at 5 p.m. today in Griffin Hall, Room 522.

The “History on the Move” program, is a four-week summer course that combines traditional classroom study with a three-week tour of historic sites in the American West.

Destinations in Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Washington become part of the classroom in the course.

The program will be held June 28 - July 25, with the group departing from Lafayette on July 5.

The program is open to any enrolled ULL student regardless of area of study.

Program cost is $2,650 and includes all travel, accommodations, activities, most meals, and course credit.

Applications are being accepted and can be obtained by contacting Robert Carriker, History and Geography Dept., ULL, 70504, or by e-mail at: carriker@louisiana.edu.

Two LTC students given scholarships

LAFAYETTE — Louisiana Technical College Lafayette campus students, Blake A. Stonicher and Khan Quoc Ly were recently selected as recipients of scholarships from the Grainger Foundation.

The scholarships were awarded based on academic achievement and leadership qualities.

Stonicher is an electrician student and Ly is a an air conditioning and refrigeration student.

The foundation recently established the scholarship program through the LTC Greater Acadiana Region Foundation IV.
