School Board gives Placide $8,369 bonus
Without discussion Thursday, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board gave recently retired Superintendent Charlotte Placide an $8,369 bonus for her performance during her fifth and final year as superintendent.
That’s $1,210 more than Placide received the year before, but short of the maximum $10,000 she could have received under her old contract.
The biggest factor driving the bonus was the school system as a whole earning accreditation.
Placide did not attend Thursday’s School Board meeting. She retired June 30.
The board judged Placide’s effort using a 10-point scale, based upon her success in achieving seven different goals.
The successful accreditation effort earned Placide a 9.6. Her lowest score, 7.9, dealt with her efforts to increase the number of students who earned TOPS college scholarships.
New Superintendent John Dilworth does not have a performance bonus in his contract. He has said he doesn’t want a bonus unless all his staff members can receive similar bonuses.
Board President Jerry Arbour said that before the end of the current school year the board leadership will work out with Dilworth a new set of measurements to evaluate how he’s doing.
