ULL offers courses for professionals

LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s continuing education department has the following professional development courses scheduled this month:

  • General Industry Safety Officer’s Train-the-Trainer Course: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 22. Fee: $175.
  • Team Building: Developing High Performance Teams: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 16. Fee: $250.
  • Time Management: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15. Fee: $125.
  • Project Management Fundamentals: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10. Fee: $399.

2009 Drums Corps to play at Cajun Field

LAFAYETTE — Cajun Field is a stop on the 2009 Drum Corps International Tour this summer.

“Drums Across Cajun Field” will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 20 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Cajun Field. The performance features several of the world’s top drum and bugle corps in competition.

It’s the third year that ULL’s Pride of Acadiana Marching Band has hosted the event, said Brian Taylor, the band’s director.

The eight participating corps are Phantom Regiment of Illinois, The Cadets of Pennsylvania, Boston Crusaders of Massachusetts, Teal Sound of Florida, Glassmen of Ohio, The Academy of Arizona, Pioneer of Wisconsin and Revolution of Texas. Workshop offered on ‘method’ acting

LAFAYETTE — A workshop based on the “method” acting technique will be held July 27 through July 31 on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus for aspiring actors ages 15 and older.

The workshop is directed by Caroline McGee, a ULL alumna who is director of the professional program at New York University’s Stonestreet Studio.

Beginning to advanced levels are encouraged to apply. The application process includes an interview. McGee is the former director of the acting program at  Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
