Speed limits start today near schools

Beginning today, drivers are asked to observe 20-mph school zones for East Baton Rouge Parish schools from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The school speed zones will be strictly enforced, police said.

Prescott Middle School has a different afternoon school zone, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Take-in times for public and private schools in the parish generally range from 7:10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. while dismissal times range from 2:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the exception of Prescott Middle, where the dismissal time is 4:30 p.m.
