BR-area home sales down 22% in May

Baton Rouge-area home sales fell 22 percent in May, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors.

Realtors sold 604 homes last month, compared to 774 in May 2008.

The total volume of homes sold in May was $164.3 million, 29 percent less than it was the year before.

To date, Realtors have sold 2,614 homes, down 21 percent from 3,309 for the same period last year, and the total volume is down 28 percent to $500.6 million.
