Wellbore Energy acquires Jackal Services

Broussard-based Wellbore Energy Solutions Inc. has acquired Jackal Services LLC, changing its name to Environmental Drilling Solutions LLC.
Wellbore provides downhole cleanout tools for rigs in the Gulf of Mexico region. The acquisition price was not disclosed. Environmental Drilling has facilities in Maurice; Shreveport; Coalgate, Okla.; and Heber Springs, Ark.
The name change better reflects its zero-discharge rig containment systems, which reduce the environmental impact of oil-based drilling fluids.
“This is a great opportunity for us to diversify our service portfolio,” Wellbore Energy Solutions chief executive officer Kirby Arceneaux said in a prepared statement.
Jackal founders Chad Hollier and Joey Templet will remain as shareholders and as part of the EDS management and marketing team.
Wellbore partnered with NGP Energy Technology Partners, an existing investor and Washington, D.C.-based equity fund, to make the acquisition.
