Jayne B. Bacot has been named administrator at Lake Surgery Center. She was a supervisor in Tower Surgery at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

 Markham R. McKnight has been named 2009 chairman of The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, an association for commercial insurance and employee benefits intermediaries. McKnight is president of BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc.

 Cox Greater Louisiana has named Michelle McLin as director, competitive strategy, and Tyressa Gatlin as manager, sales and marketing. McLin was marketing director for Comcast in Houston. Gatlin was area sales and retention supervisor for Cox Greater Louisiana. 

Todd Daniel has been named director the materials management department at Baton Rouge General. He was director of the respiratory care department. 

Jeff Kleinpeter and Mark Murrell have been elected to the American Gateway Bank board of directors. Kleinpeter is president of Kleinpeter Farms Dairy. Murrell is owner and president of Murrell Trading Co. 

Dr. Roger D. Smith has been installed as president of the Louisiana State Medical Society. He is a neurosurgeon practicing at the Ochsner Health System in New Orleans. 

Thomas Anderson has been named interim executive director of LSU’s Stephenson Disaster Management Institute. Anderson was the institute’s director of development and continues as time permits. 

Dr. Albert L. Baker has been named director of business development at Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise in Lafayette. He was a leader in business development and an enterprise architect at Virtual Communications Inc. in West Des Moines, Iowa.  

Shawn Zenon has been named  vice president of commercial services at Dow Louisiana Federal Credit Union. He was first vice president at International Bank of Commerce in Austin, Texas. 

The Louisiana Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers has elected 2008-09 officers: Ali M. Mustapha, of Shreveport, president; Christopher P. Knotts, Baton Rouge, president-elect; Patrick J. Landry, Acadiana, vice president; Ronald L. Schumann, New Orleans, secretary-treasurer; and E.R. DesOrmeaux, Acadiana, past president.
