Gingrich, Pennington events Wednesday
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich will address a Baton Rouge luncheon Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Select in a daylong meeting that also will highlight the 20th anniversary of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
Now a health-care consultant, Gingrich will speak in a keynote address about “Creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System in Louisiana,” which will be followed by three panel discussions in the afternoon led by an affiliate of the Gingrich Group LLC, The Center for Health Transformation.
In the morning, a panel discussion will explore the economic impact of Pennington on the Baton Rouge business community and prospects for growing that impact. The event began with the Pennington focus and expanded to health care when Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Alan Levine contacted one of the event sponsors, Business Report’s Rolfe McCollister.
“It all came together, but it’s actually two (separate) planned events. They’re thrilled to have Newt talk on health care and have a bigger draw,” said McCollister of Pennington.
Seating is sold out for the event, which will include remarks by Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Gov. Buddy Roemer.
