Pinnacle updates LC, BR plans
The top executive with Pinnacle Entertainment says work will begin in a few weeks on the first phase of the $350 million Sugarcane Bay casino resort in Lake Charles.
Dan Lee, Pinnacle’s chairman and chief executive officer, said recently the project is moving forward after months of delays, according to the Lake Charles American Press.
Baton Rouge plans also are developing, though more slowly, for the Riviere gambling project on River Road, said another company executive. Pinnacle spokeswoman Pauline Yoshihashi said inspection of plans is under way for the company’s proposed Baton Rouge gambling vessel, something that will need Louisiana Gaming Control Board approval.
Riviere, she said, is a working name and the $250 million Baton Rouge complex will probably operate under a different, yet-to-be-determined name when the first phase of the gambling project opens in 2010.
“Our intent is to move forward on both of these as soon as possible,” she said. The company also is pursuing projects in St. Louis and Kansas City, Kan.
Pinnacle’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission state that Pinnacle has spent a combined $8.7 million in development costs on the Sugarcane Bay and Riviere projects for the first half of 2008.
