Food incubator buying labeling equipment
The Louisiana Edible Creations Center in Gonzales will acquire what it considers to be the final linchpin for providing a turnkey facility to help startup food companies sell their products at retail stores.
Already featuring gas ranges, ovens, refrigeration, flash freezers and packaging equipment, the food incubator will buy the labeling equipment with help from the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, a new entity created by Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu to expand the state’s cultural assets.
The foundation will grant the Gonzales center $5,000 to make the labeler purchase. The equipment will assist in placing Louisiana-inspired food products in stores throughout the state and eventually the nation, said Ascension Economic Development Corp. officials. AEDC created the Louisiana Edible Creations Center and manages it.
The facility at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center is the only incubator in the state dedicated solely to food entrepreneurs.
