Christopher Harrell has been named senior vice president, commercial real estate credit officer for south Louisiana at Regions Bank. He was commercial real estate manager for the Baton Rouge market.

Will Hinson has been named director of public affairs at Cox Greater Louisiana for its Baton Rouge and Acadian markets. He previously led regional and national public and government affairs efforts at Georgia Gulf Corp. in Plaquemine. 

Steve Stein has been named community market president at Hancock Bank. He was a senior vice president and commercial relationship manager. 

Kim Montague has been named director of housing operations at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. He was previously regional sales manager and educational consultant at University Loft. Co. 

John Young has been named senior vice president of exploration and development at Medco Energi US. He was manager of business development. Lafayette-based Medco Energi US is a subsidiary of PT Medco Energi Internasional TbK. 

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System board of supervisors has selected its board officers for 2008-2009. They are Stephen Smith, of Shriever, board chairman; Carl H. Franklin, of Shreveport, first vice chairman; and Vincent St. Blanc III, of Franklin, second vice chairman. Smith is owner, officer and project manager for T. Baker Smith & Son Inc., a civil engineering, land surveying and environmental services firm in Houma. Franklin is an attorney. Blanc is a manager for Steward Building Materials and former mayor of Franklin. Two new student members, student government association presidents at their respective campuses, were also sworn in. They are Julio Castillo, Louisiana Technical College West Jefferson Campus, and Taminika Walker, Delgado Community College. 

Lisa M. Thompson has joined Business First Bank as cash management manager, assistant vice president, retail banking. She was treasury management officer at Iberiabank. 

Thomas Keith Huval has been named chairman of the board at Farmers-Merchants Bank and Trust Co. in Breaux Bridge. He is executive vice president of mergers and acquisitions for Brown & Brown Louisiana Inc., formerly Huval Insurance Agency. 

Thomas E. Anderson has been named director of development at LSU’s Stephenson Disaster Management Institute. He was chief operating officer at FiRST Responder Systems & Technology Inc., a developer of software used to provide information during disaster recovery.

William D. Eglin has been named controller at IEM, a risk management service company. He was chief financial officer and chief executive officer of MD Technologies. 

Gavin Filasek, a financial representative with the Smith Group of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, has been appointed college unit director in the Baton Rouge area. 

Miles Brashier, extension agent in Pointe Coupee Parish, has been elected president of the Louisiana County Agricultural Agents Association. Other officers are Brian Chandler, area forestry agent in southeastern Louisiana, president-elect; Glen Daniels, extension agent in Concordia Parish, vice president; Barrett Courville, extension agent in Acadia Parish, secretary; and Keith Normand, extension agent in St. Landry Parish, treasurer. Ed Twidwell, a AgCenter forage specialist,remains on the board as immediate past president. Board members elected include R.L. Frazier, Morehouse Parish; Matt Martin, Rapides Parish; Bobby Soileau, director of the LSU AgCenter’s Agricultural Leadership Program; and Natalie Hummel, extension entomologist. 

Susan Nelson, of Booz Allen Hamilton, has been elected president of Volunteers in Public Schools. Other officers are John Miller, of Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Co., vice president; Tory Johnson, of Hancock Bank, secretary; and Verni Howard, of Regions Bank, treasurer. Elected to the board are Susan Eaton, Woman’s Hospital; Linda Gaspard, ReMax First; Mary Lou Potter, Louisiana Board of Regents; Jennifer Sigler, Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips; Eboni Townsend, Louisiana Department of Social Services; and Jermaine Watson, Baton Rouge Area Chamber. Elected to VIPS advisory panel are Stephanie Dixon, Albemarle Corp.; Margaret Johnson, Interfaith Federation of Baton Rouge; Vicki Peak, Cox Communications; and Liz Treppendahl, Wright & Percy. Volunteers in Public Schools works to build public support for public education.
