Kimberly Seeger, consultant for Participant Centered Results, and Michael Frederick, curriculum development specialist for Farmers Insurance Co., have received the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential from the American Society for Training and Development Certification Institute. The designation is based on experience, an examination and a work product submission that met performance standards.

The Louisiana Department of State Civil Service has been awarded the 2008 Program of the Year Award by the National Association for Government Training and Development. The award, presented annually to the highest-performing governmental agencies participating in training and development, recognized the state’s central personnel agency for its implementation and design of the state’s Mandatory Supervisory Training Program. The program supports the development of classified supervisors with better management principles.

Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center recently earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition under a national program aimed at helping patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of the respiratory care services available in hospitals. Approximately 15 percent of hospitals in the United States have received this recognition.

Object 9 has been named to PROMO magazine’s 2008 list of the top 100 promotion and integrated marketing agencies in the United States. This year’s ranking marks the agency’s fifth appearance on the list. Object 9 has offices in Baton Rouge and Atlanta

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Clinics has been reaccredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. The accreditation examination included a quality assessment of the hospital’s facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health-care management. Only 12 percent of all small-animal veterinary practices in the United States have achieved accreditation.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality has been recognized for efforts within the Office of Environmental Services for exceptional achievement in environmental stewardship.  DEQ received special recognition for issuing air permits for Marathon Oil in an expeditious manner based upon the company’s environmental performance. The permit writers work within the Office of Environmental Services.
 
Lois Warrington, a Woman’s Hospital employee, has received the Breastfeeding: Gold Standard Award of Excellence presented by Medela. The award is a peer-nominated recognition program acknowledging the work and use of best practices by lactation consultants across the United States.

Daniel Ryan, a Baton Rouge Magnet High School student, has been named a recipient of the Young Entrepreneur Award presented by the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneurship Foundation. Students were required to write an essay describing their entrepreneurial endeavors and future goals. Standardized test scores, GPA, and class rank were also considered. 

Recipients of national, regional, state or local honors are eligible for inclusion in the Business Honors column. In-house company honors and sales awards are not eligible. Deadline is 5 p.m. Monday.
