Education center purchases building
The Louisiana Resource Center for Educators says it bought Louisiana Office Supply’s former building at 5550 Florida Blvd. last week for just under $1.7 million.
LRCE, a nonprofit group that provides teachers with training and teaching supplies, is in the Bon Carré Business Center on Florida.
The group said it will renovate the 33,000-square-foot building and plans to move there in December.
Louisiana Office Supply sold the building after its $4.7 million purchase last fall of the 40,000-square-foot Kornmeyer’s store, 7643 Florida Blvd.
BR medical center buys Jefferson tract
Sales records show Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center paid $768,213 last week for property at 17155 Old Jefferson Highway.
Spokeswoman Catherine Harrell said Monday the hospital will begin construction this fall on a Lake Primary Care Physician clinic.
River levels close casino in Natchez
Flood water on the Mississippi River has forced the closure of Isle of Capri Casinos Inc.’s Natchez, Miss., casino.
“We are working closely with our management staff to ensure that our team members are not adversely impacted and we have adequate insurance in place to cover the closure,” said Jack Sours, vice president and general manager.
