Entergy gains clearance for Ouachita unit
Entergy Corp.’s Entergy Arkansas Inc. unit has received clearance from the Federal Trade Commission to acquire the Ouachita Power Facility near Monroe from Cogentrix Energy Inc.
On Friday, regulators granted early termination of the waiting period required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust law, the Federal Trade Commission disclosed.
Last July, Entergy Arkansas agreed to acquire the Ouachita Power Facility from Cogentrix. Entergy has said about one-third of the power from the 789-megawatt unit would be sold in a long-term agreement to Entergy Gulf States Inc., the company’s subsidiary that includes Baton Rouge and southwest Louisiana customers.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. The combined cycle, natural gas-fired plant was built at Sterlington earlier this decade and began service in 2002.
