Deputies arrest suspect in drug distribution case
PIERRE PART — Deputies arrested a man on two drug distribution counts in connection with allegations he injected two juvenile boys with oxycodone, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.
Michael Morales, 43, 342 S. Bay Road, Pierre Part, was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Tuesday on two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance to persons younger than 18, deputies said in a statement.
Morales injected the boys with the oxycodone, a pain reliever, while they were at a bonfire near his residence in October, deputies said.
Deputies said they also served a search warrant to enter Morales’ residence Tuesday.
Morales remained in custody awaiting bond Wednesday, deputies said, and the matter remains under investigation.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (985) 526-1627 or its Communications Division at (985) 369-2912.
