Stroll features traveling spirits
Visitors to Donaldsonville’s Railroad Avenue on Saturday may run into a grieving widow, a politician, priest or a Victorian lady from the past.
The visitors are part of the “Traveling Spirits Remember November Evening Stroll,” River Road African Museum Executive Director Kathe Hambrick Jackson said.
The visiting “spirits” from River Parishes will stroll the avenue at their leisure, she said, starting around 6:30 p.m. at Charles Street and Railroad Avenue.
“They may appear anywhere at any time, so be on the lookout,” she said.
Jackson said members of the Crazy ’Bout History Tours group are bringing to life character from the past including “the gospel queen, the Cajun boy, planter’s wife, the jazzman and the bluesman.”
The RRAAM SCHOOL living history characters, part of the River Road African American Museum’s after school program, will perform at 6:15 p.m. at the Bicentennial Jazz Plaza.
The event, set 6 p.m.-9 p.m., is sponsored by the River Road African American Museum and Crazy ’Bout History Tours as a part of the Main to Main Street program.
