Musical tribute set for Kirk P. Landry
Friends of Kirk P. Landry are holding a musical tribute in his honor at 6 p.m. Sunday in Crescent Park in Donaldsonville.
Landry, who died in August, was the leader of the Dick Nixons Band and former Donaldsonville fire chief.
The line-up includes the Dick Nixons, Run Tell Otis, 3 Leg Dog, One Nite Only Band featuring Terry Cassard, Bill Davis of Dash Rip Rock, Fred Leblanc of Cowboy Mouth, the quartet of Lester Kenyon, Randy Walsh, Anthony Rushing and Ed White, drummer Mark Leblanc and Steve Schneider.
Formed in 1984, the Nixons became a statewide hit with college audiences and were not only known for their physical comedy during shows, but also for their humorous, well-crafted songwriting, Kenyon said.
