Buzzy Haydel, a member of the 2009 NCAA national championship LSU baseball team, has been selected to ride as grand marshal in the Ascension Christmas Parade on Dec. 13 in Gonzales.
Haydel, a 2005 East Ascension High School graduate, is an undergraduate assistant coach for the LSU baseball team.
“We are so proud to have Buzzy serve as our Christmas parade grand marshal. It is always great to honor a local, hometown Ascension Parish resident,” said Sherrie Despino, president and chief executive officer of the Ascension Chamber.
The parade rolls at 2 p.m., starting at East Ascension High School.
A kinesiology major at LSU, Haydel is the son of Marty and Pam Haydel and has one older brother, Dustin and four sisters, Amber, Katie, Brigette and Mindee.
