Project set to close roadway in Gonzales
GONZALES – George Duplessis Road closed Monday for about three weeks for an Ascension Parish drainage project, parish officials said.
Workers will replace a wooden bridge with two 60-inch culverts and cover them with dirt and fresh road asphalt, Scott Rabalais, parish government spokesman, said Tuesday.
George Duplessis is off Roddy Road and is in the area of other recently finished bridge replacement work on Roddy.
Rabalais said the project will cost $24,650, including $10,000 in parish labor and another $14,650 in materials and equipment.
The funds will come from East Ascension Drainage District No. 1’s general operating budget, Rabalais said.
During construction, motorists should use a connection with Betty Street as a temporary alternate route, parish officials said.
