Commissioners classes set

The Ascension Clerk of Court’s Office is hosting training classes this month to certify new election commissioners.

The classes are set for 6 p.m. July 21 and July 23 at the courthouse annex on Irma Boulevard in Gonzales and 5:30 p.m. July 22 at the courthouse in Donaldsonville.

Attendance is required at one session only, and commissioners already certified do not have to attend, according to a news release from Clerk of Court Kermit Hart Bourque.

Any qualified voter who is not entitled to assistance in voting and is not a candidate in the election may be selected as a commissioner provided that he or she has been certified through successful attendance at commissioners school.
