‘Fourth of July Swim’ adds to fun on holiday

While others were preparing for barbecues, swimmers filled the Pelican Point Pool for the  annual “Fourth of July Swim.”

In the 7-year-old-and-under eighth-mile race, Abby Schexnaydre placed first; Torie DeFeo, second; Lauren Haygood, third; and Zoe DeFeo, fourth.

The 8-to-10-year-old eighth-mile first-flight race was won by Jared Schexnaydre, with Jack Brister second and Jonathan McKeough, third. The second-flight winners were Madeline Haygood, first; Aaron Landry, second; and Hannah Pike, third.

The 11-14-year-old quarter-mile race was won by Alex Cruz, with Mitchell Bailey, second; Blake Brister, third and Nick Hull, fourth.

Zach Hull placed first in the 15-to-18-year-old half-mile swim. Adults Alison and Jim Hull placed first and second respectively in the quarter-mile swim.
