Dutchtown High School band students competed in the Louisiana Music Educators Association State Band Festival in Natchitoches.

The symphonic winds band was awarded a score of 1, the highest a band can receive, on both performance and sight-reading. The symphonic band scored a 2 for its stage performance and a 1 for sight-reading.

Sheily Bell is director of the symphonic winds; David Holland directed the symphonic band.

The competition draws middle and high schools bands from throughout the state, said Kathie Patty, Band Booster Club member.
