THIBODAUX — The Louisiana Center for Women and Government at Nicholls State University will induct four women into its hall of fame Friday.

Those to be honored at the luncheon in the Warren J. Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium are Dolores Spikes, of Baton Rouge; Phyllis Taylor, of New Orleans; Sandy Rosenthal, of New Orleans; and Kitty DeGree, of Monroe.

The center also will present a lifetime achievement award to former Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

Spikes is the first woman to head a university system in Louisiana, the Southern University System.

Taylor is chairman and chief executive officer of Taylor Energy Co. LLC

Rosenthal, a Hurricane Katrina victim, organized Levees.Org, a nonprofit grassroots group that advocates effective flood control and protection in New Orleans and nationwide.

DeGree, who developed a highly successful real estate career, has donated millions to the University of Monroe and a breast health center named in her honor at St. Francis Medical Center.

Actress Dixie Carter will be the keynote speaker for the awards ceremony.
