Barnes & Noble starts book drive

LAFAYETTE — Barnes & Noble of Lafayette’s annual holiday book drive began Sunday and will continue through Jan. 1.

Through the annual program, customers have the opportunity to purchase a book and donate it to a child in the community.

The donated books will be distributed by the Cecil J. Picard Center for Child Development and Lifelong Learning to the more than 800 4-year-old students at Lafayette Parish LA4 program sites.

Those schools include: Truman Montessori, Katharine Drexel, Green T. Lindon, Ernest Gallet, J. Wallace James, Alice Boucher, J.W. Faulk, Evangeline and Prairie.

Schools of Choice Fall Frenzy set

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Parish school system’s Schools of Choice Fall Frenzy will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cajundome Convention Center.

The fair is an opportunity for parents and students to explore schools of choice programs offered in the district.

The event includes activities, performances and demonstrations of the variety of programming offered in the district.

Applications will also be accepted on Saturday.

ULL offers info on graduate school

LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will hold an information session for anyone interested in graduate school at 3 p.m. today in the Student Union, Evangeline Room.
