CARENCRO — A 41-year-old man found shot to death in Carencro Thursday morning had a long history of run-ins with authorities, an official said Friday.

Assistant Police Chief Dondi Hardin said Mark A. Boutin had been arrested 30 to 40 times on a variety of charges, including drug-related offenses and impersonating a police officer.

Boutin was shot once in the right side of the head near the temple.

Police found his body next to a vehicle in the 800 block of Fado Street after a suspicious circumstances report at about 6:07 a.m.

Authorities determined that his death was a homicide.

Hardin said investigators have interviewed numerous people in the case but have made no arrests so far.

It is not yet clear whether Boutin’s history played a factor in his death.

On Monday, Lafayette Police received a report of a man who attempted a traffic stop on a woman on Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Police said the man was wearing a uniform and tried to persuade the woman to stop using oral commands and gestures.

The woman did not stop and reported the incident to police.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.

The man was driving a blue Ford F-150 single-cab pickup with a white stripe down the side.

The vehicle is believed to be a late ’90s or early 2000 model.
