LAFAYETTE — Two prominent cases in Lafayette were continued Monday in district court until October.

A judge granted motions to continue the state’s cases against Thornton Gross, who was allegedly involved in events leading up to the killing of Alexuia Feast, and Guy and Floyd Boudreaux, who are facing multiple counts of dog fighting charges.

Thornton Gross’ attorney, Valerie Garrett, requested a continuance in the case to allow for additional time to schedule a pretrial and motion dates.

The case was postponed until Oct. 13.

Gross is accused of having sexual contact with 13-year-old Alexuia Feast, who was beaten to death in October 2004.

Gross was acquitted of her murder but testified during trial to having had sexual contact with her.

He was charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile and sexual battery shortly after his acquittal.

Gross was one of three men accused in the girl’s death. The other two, Herbert Prejean and Joseph James, have yet to stand trial.

Prosecutor Ronald Dauterive requested a continuance in the state’s case against Floyd J. Boudreaux and his son, Guy Boudreaux.

Both men were arrested in March 2005 on 64 counts of dog fighting, 64 counts of animal cruelty and one count each of possession of anabolic steroids.

Floyd Boudreaux is an internationally known breeder of pitbull terriers.

Dauterive declined to speak on the record as to why the case was continued.

The case was rescheduled for Oct. 13.
