More than 100 live oak trees line the median of Goodwood Boulevard between Airline Highway and Sharp Road. Broadmoor residents, with the support of the city-parish and funding from a grant, are starting an Adopt-a-Tree program.
Saving the trees
Four seminars on trees will be offered as part of the Goodwood Adopt-A-Tree program. The seminars are free and open to the public:
TREES AND WIND: HURRICANES IN THE URBAN FOREST: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 3 of the Activity Building at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive.
HOW TO HIRE A PROFESSIONAL ARBORIST: 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the same location.
AVOIDING TREE/UTILITY CONFLICTS: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the same location.
TREE SELECTION AND INSTALLATION: 6:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the Adult Building at Broadmoor United Methodist.
