Perkins Road site to be redeveloped

Exterior fire damage is still visible at Perkins Road Hardware, which has been closed since a two-alarm fire burned much of the building in December.

Soyla Nettles, owner of Living Foods, said Wednesday she was disappointed that the nearby Perkins Road Hardware store will not reopen, though she was glad the property will be redeveloped.

Donnie Jarreau Companies said Wednesday it bought the Perkins Road Hardware property at the Interstate 10-Perkins Road overpass. Chad Ortte, a real estate agent for Donnie Jarreau, said the property will be converted into retail and residential space as seen in this rendering by architect Chris Remson.
