Police ID victims in Saturday’s shootings

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Sunday identified the victims of a Saturday murder-suicide in Geismar.
The man who deputies believe shot and killed his former girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself was identified as Walter Robinson, 44, of Thibodaux, said Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tony Bacala.
The woman was identified as Ruth Gustave, 50, of St. Gabriel, Bacala said.
The shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. at a 37346 Anderson Road residence where a group of people had gathered to watch the New Orleans Saints play the Dallas Cowboys, Bacala said.
Robinson knocked on the door and asked for Gustave, who met him outside under a carport, Bacala said.
People inside the residence then heard gunshots, went to the carport and found both Robinson and Gustave dead, Bacala said.
