Pointe Coupee reviews form of government
NEW ROADS — The public is invited to attend an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the Julien Poydras Center to hear a discussion of whether Pointe Coupee Parish’s police jury form of government should be replaced by a parish president and council form of government.
State Sen. Rob Marionneaux, D-Grosse Tete, and state Rep. Major Thibaut, D-New Roads, are expected to make opening remarks.
Later in the program, West Baton Rouge Parish President Riley Berthelot, Iberville Parish President Mitch Ourso and Livingston Parish President Mike Grimmer, along with council members from each of those parishes, are expected to discuss the implications of such a move.
Toward the end of the discussion, there will be a question-and-answer session.
