NAPOLEONVILLE — A Pierre Part man was sentenced to 96 years in state prison on a conviction for indecent behavior with young boys spanning an 18-year period, prosecutors said.

A 12-member jury found Kim Bernuchaux, 53, guilty on six counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile July 22 following a two-day trial, prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, who prosecuted the case, said the incidents occurred between the late 1980s and around 2006 and that the boys ranged in age from 5 to 15 at the times of their abuse.

Judge Thomas Kliebert Jr. of the 23rd Judicial District Court sentenced Bernuchaux to seven years each on three counts and 25 years each on the other three counts Tuesday, prosecutors said in a statement.

Kliebert ordered at the Assumption Parish Courthouse in Napoleonville that sentences run consecutively and that they be served without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence, prosecutors said.

Bernuchaux must register as a sex offender upon his release, prosecutors said.

The 23rd Judicial District encompasses Assumption, Ascension and St. James parishes.
