Celebrate artwork, renovations
The Livingston Parish Arts Council and parish Chamber of Commerce will have an art show 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday as part the grand-opening ceremony of the renovated offices at 133 Hummell St. in Denham Springs shared by the two groups.
The Arts Council sought original work from area artists ranging from photography to jewelry to showcase at the event. The art will continue to be on display at the joint offices through Dec. 31.

Giving blessings of food
Open Door Baptist Church in Denham Springs is looking for donations of nonperishable food items and money to purchase turkeys and ham for 50 needy families in Livingston Parish.

Fireworks for fundraiser
Want to give people a “bang” for the holidays? Women Outreaching Women seeks volunteers for its fireworks sales fundraiser.
Volunteers are needed starting Dec. 9 to transform WOW’s Community Center into a fireworks stand. Then, volunteers are needed from Dec. 15 to Jan. 1 to sell fireworks.

Walk a mile for WOW
Women Outreaching Women will have its “Purple Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Whistle Stop Café, 101 N. Range Ave., Denham Springs. Entry fee is $5 for men wearing women’s shoes and $10 for men wearing men’s shoes. Entry fees can be paid in advance or the day of the race. Call (225) 791-3940.
Legal clinic available
Women Outreaching Women will offer a free legal clinic for victims of domestic violence 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Services are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone interested in attending must call (225) 791-3940 to schedule an appointment.
Walker holiday memories
The Walker Museum is looking for photos of family Christmas celebrations from Walker for a December exhibit. Submission deadline is Friday and the exhibit opens Dec. 5. Go to http://www.walker.la.us or call (225) 665-4356 for details.
Artwork at library
The Denham Springs-Walker branch of the Livingston Parish Library has exhibits of Louisiana photographs from Livingston Parish resident Sarah Hatcher who captures images of landscapes, architecture, wildlife and “the ways of life.”
Linda Alleman also will display her Louisiana primitive doll collection. Alleman researches the dolls used and played with in old plantations 100 to 200 years ago.
